Think Green

Welcome to our new addition. We at The Stork’s Nest of the Old Pueblo are happy to present our new blog. Our friends and family will be sharing with you our new ideas, goals and focus for our ever growing baby (The Stork’s Nest of the Old Pueblo).

In our first addition, we want to focus on our efforts to be “green”. This summer major focus was placed on the issue of global warming and efforts to keep America strong. We at The Stork’s Nest are focused on these issues and look for product lines that share in our beliefs.

Pixel is green, domestic, organic, and modern.

Choosing to make all products in the USA is another way Pixel is going green. Does it make sense to create an environmentally friendly product and then stick it on a large fossil fueled boat to get it to our shores? Pixel is 100 percent made in the USA and manufactured in Los Angeles in a sweatshop free environment. Because Pixel Organics is a family business our commitment is to our values and people around us not just a single bottom line. Chris Svensrud, CEO of Pixel, feels comfortable knowing that the faces behind our product are being treated in a fair and ethical manner. He explains this is the idea of the "triple bottom line" economy: balancing financial sustainability, social justice, and environmental restoration. Pixel is their customers every step of the way to promote a better future. After all happy products are made by happy people. Pixel Organics is starting the current and next generation on a path where it's not a question of "is it organic" but rather "why of course it's organic!" We are the generation that can make the necessary change. "And I know that it's possible", states Shannon Svensrud, COO of Pixel, "I am in my early thirties. I had never heard of the internet before going to college. My kids will have a hard time fathoming a world without it! That is how I see the future of organic products, in time it will be hard to imagine purchasing anything but organic."For Chris and Shannon, green is about leaving tiny footprints on this planet. Whether that is done by using certified Organic fabrications, minimal packaging with 100 percent recycled content, low impact dye/print processes (approved by the Organic Trade Association and ultimately less harmful to the planet than using vegetable dyes which require heavy metals to apply), or by helping to reduce already existing waste and converting used plastic bottles into bedding fill-each step is a choice in a "greener direction". Every choice big or small is still a choice. Choosing organic or recycled isn't always the easiest or most cost effective route. Yet, doing the right thing isn't always the easiest thing either. We want to make it easy for you. By marrying good design with good social decisions-going green doesn't have to be a sacrifice. Pixel Organics is green and modern with a great sense of color. Our prints are designed for kids and feature playful motifs. The three new organic print collections are pushing the envelope for traditional organic concepts.
